OBD Matrix

The prestigious “Automechanika Innovation Award” was announced in the run-up to this year’s Automechanika. A jury of eight experts representing the automotive industry, industrial associations, the specialist press and teaching institutions examined all the products on display, arranged in eight categories, and selected those it considered most innovative and most likely to make a major contribution to the market on the basis of their innovation, functionality, quality, relevance to the aftermarket, and environmental protection.

OBD Matrix, TEXA’s new miniaturised on-board diagnostic tool, capable of identifying even sporadic and intermittent faults, was chosen as the top product in the “Repair & Diagnosis” class, a class that was packed with highly competitive products from leading manufacturers from all over the world.
In their announcement, the jury stated that TEXA had developed “the world’s first device that monitors all of a vehicle’s electronic systems while it is running – a very small unit, hardly any bigger than the OBD diagnostic socket in which it is inserted, that does not bother the driver.”.

The highly miniaturised OBD Matrix records all errors in all vehicle systems under normal driving conditions. This means that the mechanic does not have to keep the vehicle in the garage, where very often it proves impossible to reproduce the conditions under which a malfunction occurs (especially those that only occur at high altitudes, in the rain, or in the urban cycle, etc.).
It only takes the mechanic a few minutes to install the diminutive OBD Matrix in the customer’s vehicle.
The customer can then carry on driving normally, and come back to the garage at the end of the agreed observation period. The mechanic then removes the device, connects it to his computer, and views the values of pre-selected parameters to identify the exact nature of the fault.

OBD Matrix provides a valuable aid to all mechanics as it detects and records errors as they normally occur, with the vehicle in motion. Repairs can then be made quickly and accurately, and the customer offered a highly professional service without the inconvenience of having to leave his vehicle at a garage. This new, concentrated, high-tech tool can be considered as a development of TEXA’s OBD Log, the compact engine parameter diagnostic tool that has already attracted international acclaim by winning gold in the International Grand Prix Awards for Automotive Innovation at the 2009 Equip Auto show in Paris. Nearly 30,000 OBD Logs have already been sold.

“We are delighted with this new award”, TEXA’s CEO Bruno Vianello states, “as it recognises the tremendous effort our company is making in the field of research and development. We have developed the OBD Matrix because we are convinced that on-the-move diagnostics and telediagnostics represent the way forward for mechanics today”.
